The Wireless Switch Transmitter (WST) uses low power infrared light to communicate with the HeadMouse Extreme, much like a television remote control. The receiver is built-in to the HeadMouse Extreme and is located near one of the HeadMouse logos behind the small window. The WST has internal batteries that will provide months of operation. An external power port is available for those needing longer run times. The switch inputs accept industry standard adaptive switches, which use 1/8-inch (3.5mm) connectors. The WST is shipped configured for use with mono connectors; however, it can be re-configured in the field to accept stereo connectors. This is convenient for some dual switches (Left and Right mouse buttons) that use one cable and connector. The WST is generally used by those with adaptive switches that wish to break the hard connection between the switch and the HeadMouse. Often this is a power wheelchair owner that wants independence from an attendant for connecting and disconnecting his switch. |
