Dragon NaturallySpeaking® is the leading application for speech recognition. However, many professionals complain about or do not like the fact that it is not easy to delegate the correction of the automatic transcriptions which can be generated when dictating into a digital pocket recorder. Also, with delegation, improvement of their (the authors) Speech files many times does not adequately take place. Transcription Aid® is the first of a kind. It is a unique and easy to use application essentially designed to achieve both things, by synchronized playback of the original voice recording with the transcription when pressing a foot pedal (or optional function-keys or optional mouse clicks), like a traditional transcription machine! In this way, any secretary (transcriptionist) can now correct and edit a transcription in the absence of the executive (author) who may, because of Transcription Aid's unique abilities, may have used virtually any digital recording device from a simple microphone, a telephone, to a PDA, an MP3 recorder for voice, or even today’s Windows Mobile Smartphone. Moreover, Transcription Aid® provides an innovative, much more powerful and ergonomic, yet simple interface for correction and editing tasks than the one currently available through the NaturallySpeaking® Playback toolbar (Dragon Pad). This facilitates the work of transcriptionists without much experience in speech recognition. According to the traditional author/transcriptionist workflow for document creation, authors can continue to work like before, while benefiting from speech recognition without changing habits, by concentrating exclusively on dictating to i.e. Transcription Aid® itself, NaturallySpeaking’s DragonPad or alternatively Microsoft Word® (with certain limitations). The transcriptionist will also continue to correct and edit the automatically generated transcription, but now using the much quicker, simpler, productive and more user friendly interface of Transcription Aid®. With a good set of author Speech files opened, providing automatic transcription accuracy rates of between 97% - 98%+, the transcriptionist work will be reduced to correct a mere 1 to 2 to 3 misrecognitions every one hundred words! • Transcription Aid® also effectively overcomes one of the major problems for professional speech recognition: the fact that most authors (users) neglect to / forget to / simply do not want to systematically improve their Speech files, by correcting the transcription or misrecognitions that may be generated by NaturallySpeaking®, and thus their accuracy rate. Simplified access to speech recognition for any company or corporation, thanks to strict observance of the traditional office workflow thru which: - The author is supposed to dictate only, either directly to Transcription Aid® itself, NaturallySpeaking® DragonPad or perhaps Microsoft Word® (with certain limitations) running in a PC, or in any supported mobile digital recording device. - While the transcriptionist takes care of everything else, especially simultaneous correction of transcriptions and improvement of the author Speech files. 2. In fact, playback can be done not only forward but also backwards. In addition, its speed can be changed. As for the built-in macro commands, the transcriptionist can rewind an “X number of words”, play them back and stop, only with one mouse click or keyboard shortcut. It is also possible to do the same operation forward and many other things. These useful functionalities for professional output are simply not yet available within the NaturallySpeaking® DragonPad interface. Also, automatic identification and conversion of most sound formats for proper transcription of voice recordings generated by virtually any digital dictation application or digital mobile device (digital recorder, PDA --Pocket® PC, Sony Clié®, Palm®--, MP3 Player with voice recorder and even Windows Mobile® Smartphone GSM) is supported. This is, again, something not yet available within the NaturallySpeaking® DragonPad. Finally, Transcription Aid® programmers have managed to resolve a couple of crucial problems affecting NaturallySpeaking® versions 6 and 7 when the author dictates directly within almost any version of Microsoft Word® (the “de facto” standard in most offices), that is: - only partial playback support of the special and proprietary voice recording “*.dra” files generated by Dragon within Microsoft Word®, especially if the author has used the Voice Commands "New-Paragraph" and/or "New-Line" when dictating and/or inserted graphics within the resulting transcription - frequent missing or misplacement of “*.dra” files when closing Microsoft Word®. Taking into account all these amazing functionalities, we usually like to refer to Transcription Aid® as the Swiss Army knife of Dragon NaturallySpeaking®! HOW DOES IT WORK? Transcription Aid® is specifically oriented to be used by secretaries (transcriptionists), who have little or no experience with speech recognition (NaturallySpeaking®), to facilitate and greatly increase the productivity of their correction work. Also, it can be used to effectively improve the author Speech files for further accuracy in the transcription process. The transcriptionist does not need to dictate anything. All commands and correcting can be implemented directly on the screen with keyboard and mouse. With the Full versions (either Individual or Corporate), a special “certified” foot pedal must be used to move backwards and forwards through the transcription while hearing the voice recording of the author that generated it, in perfect synchronization. Most buttons on the screen are used to facilitate moving and synchronized playing back thru the transcription, so that the transcriptionist can easily hear the original voice recording of the author to correct the misrecognitions. One of the buttons brings up the NaturallySpeaking® “Correction and Spelling” window, through which often the correct choice is just a mouse click away. Moreover, as NaturallySpeaking® users know, all corrections implemented in this special way will improve the author' Speech files (previously loaded in Transcription Aid®) for further accuracy –a unique feature! |
